Fancy an afternoon of wildlife spotting?

Head on down to Fowlsheugh nature reserve for the ultimate seabird watching experience. Every year over 130,000 birds flock to the cliffs to breed and nest, and it’s a truly spectacular sight! Spot puffins, guillemots, kittiwakes, razorbills, and fulmars. You’ll even get a birdseye-view of the water below where you might be lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins or minke whales. There are also fantastic nature trails and coastal walks in the surrounding area.

Landmark Enthusiast

Calling all landmark enthusiasts

Dunnottar Castle is a must-see for any history fan or Scottish castle enthusiast. The ruined yet majestic cliff-top fortress, which sits on the edge of the North Sea, is an unforgettable sight. The oldest remaining part of the Castle is the Keep, which was completed in around 1392.

Its fascinating history saw Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace, the Marquis of Montrose and the future King Charles II grace its grounds with their presence. Dunnottar Castle also played an important shielding role in the siege of the Scottish Crown Jewels, when they were smuggled out of the castle to safety at Kinneff Church. The crown jewels, also known as the Honours of Scotland, remained there until the restoration of the monarchy in 1660.
